Expectations

 Welcome To Our Classroom

Again, this is a special year in your child's education! Second grade is a time to continue to build new skills and friendships. During the year, your child will learn many new things. I hope to continue to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child's years of schooling!
Below are some things you should know about our classroom:

Homework
Homework is meant to be a reinforcement.  It should not be new material. The children are asked to read at least 15-20 minutes each day.

Bathroom
The children will be allowed to visit the bathroom before 8:15 A.M.  The children also may go at times throughout the day.  I am encouraging the children to choose appropriate times.  Excessive trips to the bathroom take time away from learning and are very distracting.   Please let me know if there are any circumstances that I should be aware of.

Toys
Any toy that comes to school must remain in the child’s backpack until recess.  The toy must be placed back in the child’s backpack immediately following recess.  Please do not send toys that are difficult to replace if lost or broken.

Volunteering
Each time you visit, please stop at the office to sign in.

Birthdays
Due to the Medway Schools Health Policy, we may not celebrate birthdays in school with any type of food product. Please do not send in a food treat.   You are welcome to send in a small item which can be distributed such as pencils or erasers.  You may also send in your child’s favorite story or join us to read the story yourself.  Please email me in advance so I know what you are planning to do.
